All garments have an age guide but, obviously, all babies are born different and grow at different rates. For that reason, we also give exact measurements. When we agree on a commission we shall let you know how long we anticipate it will be until despatch. If we have to start knitting it from scratch, it may take up to 21 days. If you need an item for a particular occasion or you want it quickly (eg as a gift for a new baby) please discuss it with us.Laundering BabyDoozle KnitwearEach item has its own washing instructions. Any item can be gently hand washed and we recommend using pure soap. The majority of our garments can be machine washed on a wool or hand wash cycle, using a gentle powder or liquid. Some (baby alpaca, for example) should be gently hand washed. Please do not bleach or tumble dry our garments but dry them flat on a towel, either outside in the shade or somewhere warm indoors. Most should not be ironed; the exception is cotton, which can be ironed with a cool iron.Baby WrapsThese are just perfect for newborns (boys or girls) but the larger sizes also look great on little girls, particularly above a tutu or over a pretty dress. The smallest sizes are knitted in garter stitch, either a Merino mix yarn or soft cotton and come in a range of colours. Ballet wraps for older girls have a slightly different style, with raglan sleeves, and are knitted in stocking stitch. All the girls’ wraps have a pretty picot edge along the bottom and either ribbon ties or a mother-of-pearl button and loop. The boys’ wraps, and those for either sex, have a button and loop fastening.Cotton JumpersThese are very popular, particularly for boys between 6 months and two years. With the front raglan opening, they are quick and easy to pull on and off and the yarn is machine washable and durable. The organic cotton makes them particularly suitable for children with sensitive skins or allergies and it is very soft and gentle on young skin. Buttons are made of natural wood and are fine to be washed as long as they are not left to soak for long periods.Guernsey JumpersThese are knitted by Jane, in either pure, non-scratchy wool or cotton yarn. Wool is more suited to colder weather and the cotton is great for cool Summer evenings (or days)! ‘Mary-Jo’ ShoesThese are fun to make and so cute on babies. They are soft and stretchy (and should stay on better than most shoes and bootees)! Some are hand-embroidered with flowers, others are plain apart from a sweet little button. Sizes are given for each pair in the more info page.
